What is a filling?
A dental filling is one of the most basic dental restorations offered by our dentists at The Dental Implant Associates. If a tooth is affected by minor to moderate tooth decay or another form of damage, we may suggest a filling to repair the tooth. To place the filling, we first remove the decayed portion of the tooth and thoroughly clean the tooth. Once the healthy tooth structure has been sanitized, we place the filling layer by layer. We carefully shape the filling to fit the contours of the tooth and to comfortably fit your bite. The filling is then hardened with a special light.
What are composite fillings?
We are pleased to offer composite (tooth-colored) dental fillings at our office. Composite fillings, which are sometimes called white fillings, are made of a tooth-colored material known as composite resin. Dr. Hoffman, Dr. Flicker, and Dr. Sher are able to match the shade of the resin to your natural tooth color, giving you beautifully natural-looking results. The composite material also forms a strong bond with the natural tooth structure, resulting in a long-lasting restoration.
