What are dentures?
Dentures are removable oral appliances used to replace multiple missing teeth. Created from prosthetic (artificial) teeth that are set into a gum-colored base, dentures can be used whether you are missing only a few teeth or all of your teeth. Our high-quality dentures in Chicago, Illinois, are custom made to comfortably and aesthetically fit your smile. Thanks to advances in dental technology and materials, dentures have become much more comfortable and natural looking over recent years, so you can feel confident in your new smile.
What types of dentures are available?
The two main types of dentures are complete dentures and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used to replace all of the teeth in the upper arch, lower arch, or both arches. Partial dentures, on the other hand, are used when some natural teeth still remain. Implant-supported dentures are also an option. These dentures are attached to dental implants placed in the jawbone, resulting in a more stable restoration. Many patients comment that implant-supported dentures feel more like their natural teeth.
Do I need dentures?
If you have suffered the loss of multiple teeth because of aging, trauma, advanced periodontal disease, serious decay, or other factors, our dentists at The Dental Implant Associates may recommend dentures to restore your smile. Dr. Hoffman, Dr. Flicker, and Dr. Sher may suggest dentures to improve your ability to chew and speak properly, as well as to enhance your smile’s appearance and your facial volume.
