Tooth loss can occur from several different sources. While untreated tooth decay is the most common cause of tooth loss, it can also occur from severe dental trauma, dental avulsion, or a treatment-related extraction. When this happens, it can pose other oral complications that could potentially worsen with time. Eventually, it could even affect the alignment of the surrounding teeth, leading to issues with dental attrition and dental avulsion.

Fortunately, Drs. Hoffman, Flicker, and Sher are well versed in several treatment options for replacing the tooth.

If you’re missing multiple teeth in one location of your mouth and you’re looking for a non-invasive solution, they could easily fit you for a custom, removable partial denture. This dental appliance is like a miniature version of dentures that is designed to replicate the gums and teeth.

If you’re only missing one tooth, one easy and effective option is to use a dental bridge restoration. This is a replica tooth that is fused to open crowns on each end. This routinely takes two separate appointments. The first preps the two neighboring teeth as abutment anchors for the bridge. Then the final piece of dental work is prepared at our off-site dental lab. When it’s ready, our dentists will cement the bridge onto the abutments with a strong dental adhesive.

A dental implant is another effective option for restoring a single tooth or, when mounted to a bridge, it could restore multiple missing teeth. This comes in the form of a titanium abutment that is inserted directly into the socket left behind by the missing tooth. The titanium will eventually fuse to the surrounding bone tissues to create a solid anchor point for an eventual dental crown.
